# Headings are followed by a direct answer

How the Headings are followed by a direct answer check works, what a failure means, and how to fix it in the Answer Readiness dimension.

- Dimension: Answer Readiness (10% of the total score)
- This check: 3 points
- Check id: `answer-first`

## What does this check look at?

Of the first 30 heading-then-paragraph pairs (H2/H3 optionally followed by wrapper elements then a <p>), at least 60% have an opening paragraph of 80 words or fewer.

## How do I fix it?

- **partial** — Put the answer in the first sentence under each heading; long openers are rarely extracted intact.
- Structure sections as heading, then an immediate one-sentence answer, then detail.

## Why is it worth 3 points?

Substantial, and largely mechanical to fix.

## What else is measured in this dimension?

- [Headings are phrased as real questions](https://geo-scanner.ccie13192.com/checks/qa-headings/) — 4 points
- [FAQPage schema is present](https://geo-scanner.ccie13192.com/checks/faq/) — 3 points
